Gym crowded resolutioners misc9/11/2023 ![]() ![]() Even when the benches and weights are wiped, they are still fairly gross (I’ve wiped bars and have the wipe finish brown). Wipe down the equipment: Its gross to sit on a bench after someone else has used it and hasn’t cleaned it.Here are a few tips for those that are hitting the gym for the first time (or first time in a while). Yes, the machines and weights we use are taken, but it’s more then just the crowds. Leave a comment if you feel there is anything important I left out, or if you have a question you would like me to answer.I know one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions is to start going to the gym it’s a good one, but it makes a lot of us normal gym-goers groan. Don’t be afraid to try something new! You will probably fail the first time you try, but will fail a little less the second and get better with each attempt. I fail at a lot of stuff I try to put into practice, but learn from that as well. There is much advice for anyone who focuses on fitness. Otherwise make your workout a priority and treat it as such. If you are sick, hemorrhaging blood from some wound or have some medical condition then by all means stay home. I don’t care if you had a long day at work, or your girlfriend just left you, there is little reason to skip the gym. Decide the frequency that you plan to workout and go regardless. If you are serious about getting into shape you have to put in the time. Leave you pick up game for the bars and clubs. Have real conversations with people and good things will happen. I’m not saying don’t talk to woman at the gym, but don’t do so with the intention of picking her up. Approaching a woman while she is working out is more than likely going to creep her out. You will know the ones that do, they will look like they are headed to the club and not really working out. Most woman do not go to the gym to find a new man. Put the weight up for other people to use while you awkwardly ask her if she needs a spot. Also, don’t leave 3 or 4 sets of dumbbells on the floor in front of your bench while you are trying to pick up the girl working next to you. ![]() Don’t skip sets because someone is waiting, but don’t take 10 min rests between sets updating your twitter either. Re-rack your weight! Most people can move a 45 lb plate, but you never know when and 85 year old woman will walk into the gym and want to use the equipment you left all your weight on.īe mindful of others waiting for the equipment you are using. Wipe down your equipment, no one wants to put there head in your fresh swamp ass juice. ![]() You just might make their day!īe courteous in the gym, some people really do see it as a second home. If you are unsure how to use a machine, piece of equipment or just want to try and exercise you see someone else doing….ask someone. One of the best days in the gym a bodybuilder or fitness enthusiast can have is when someones says “Can you help me? I’m not sure how to do this.” Of course like anywhere else you will always run across the people who are just having a bad day and don’t want to be bothered so just ask someone else. People who have been gymgoers for a while love to give advice. I like to set six month goals, create a plan and stick with it for that time period. Whatever it is, set a long term goal and stick to it. Figure out if you want to focus on strength, bodybuilding, or athletic performance….or maybe you simply want to look better naked. You will quickly lose motivation if you have no other goal than to show up wander around, sit on a few machines and call it a day. Or at least have a goal and figure out the plan from there. Learn proper technique and form, rep ranges, effective amount of working sets and recovery techniques. Instead of worrying about the amount of weight you can lift, how fast you are or whatever it is you are training….learn. I know I am far more impressed with someone benching 105 lbs with full range of motion than half repping 135 lbs. First of all your progress will suffer by attempting to do to much to fast and secondly, no one gives a shit that you can’t bench press the same amount of weight as them. Everest incline, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, you will see people lifting heavy ass weight, or running on the treadmill at Mt. This may be one of the biggest mistakes and will often result in injury. I say welcome and here is some advice that may help you New Years resolutioners. As someone who has spent so much time on my own health and fitness it makes me happy to see someone else start that journey, even though many will not make it a lifetime commitment like I have. I am always glad to see new members at the gym. I have seen a lot of talk, as I do every year, about gyms becoming crowded with new members with new resolutions. ![]()
